Bandung to award Aom Kusman for contribution to culture

Bandung Mayor Dada Rosada says that he will
be giving an award of recognition to the late Sundanese comedian and actor Aom Kusman
Kartanagara, who died at his residence in Bandung,
West Java, on early Friday.
“The Bandung
administration will be giving an acknowledgement to Kang Aom and 10 other Bandung residents who had developed the Bandung art and tradition. He will be a great
loss to the city,” he said Friday, as quoted by tribunnews.com.
He said that Kang Aom deserved such an
appreciation for his resounding contribution and dedication to the local art
and tradition.
“In Bandung
and the whole of West Java everyone knows Kang
Aom. He is a an artist and humanist who’s work is known locally and
nationally,” he said.
Aom, who died from diabetes, will be buried
at a family cemetery in Cimaragas, Garut, on Friday afternoon.
He was famous for his work as part of the
comedy group D’Kabayan, along with late Raden Aang Kusmayatna, more popularly
known as Kang Ibing, and Suryana Fatah. (awd)
