Bandung Mayor Dada Rosada says that he will be giving an award of recognition to the late Sundanese comedian and actor Aom Kusman Kartanagara, who died at his residence in Bandung, West Java, on early Friday.

“The Bandung administration will be giving an acknowledgement to Kang Aom and 10 other Bandung residents who had developed the Bandung art and tradition. He will be a great loss to the city,” he said Friday, as quoted by tribunnews.com.

He said that Kang Aom deserved such an appreciation for his resounding contribution and dedication to the local art and tradition.

“In Bandung and the whole of West Java everyone knows Kang Aom. He is a an artist and humanist who’s work is known locally and nationally,” he said.

Aom, who died from diabetes, will be buried at a family cemetery in Cimaragas, Garut, on Friday afternoon.

He was famous for his work as part of the comedy group D’Kabayan, along with late Raden Aang Kusmayatna, more popularly known as Kang Ibing, and Suryana Fatah. (awd)
