Free early detection service for cervical cancer offered by Health Agency

The Jakarta Health Agency is offering free services for the early detection of cervical cancer from Dec. 20 to Jan. 15.
The program is being held in conjunction with the launching of the Cervical Cancer Prevention Month in observance of Mother’s Day in Jagakarsa community health center, South Jakarta, on Thursday, kompas.com.
Secretary of the health agency, Dr. Ariani Murti, said the program targeted at least 6,000 women. “If any of them are tested positive, they can be immediately handled by the health center or referred to a hospital,” she said.
The free examination is offered at 34 places throughout the city, comprising of 25 community health centers, three offices of the Indonesian Cancer Foundation (YKI), and six Budi Kemuliaan Hospitals.
The program is supported by the Female Cancer Program, the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Indonesia, the Indonesian Initiative of Cervical Cancer Prevention, YKI, the Jakarta chapter of the Association of Gynecologic Obstetricians, the Indonesian Association of Gynecological Oncologists and the Health Ministry’s Directorate of Noncommunicable Diseases.
