Letter to the editor: Clarification from Sembcorp Industries Ltd.

I refer to the article titled “PLN, Singapore gas swap deal in limbo” published in the Business section of The Jakarta Post on Dec. 15, 2011.
It is stated in the article that “PLN is reportedly refusing to pay US$1.7 million in compensation to Sembcorp for constructing a gas pipeline…” (2nd paragraph) and “it [Gajah Baru] plans to channel its gas via Sembcorp. For that purpose, Sembcorp would have to construct the pipeline” (4th paragraph).
Both these statements are inaccurate. Sembcorp is not constructing the gas pipeline mentioned in the article, and Sembcorp is also not in any dispute with PLN with regards to the said gas pipeline.
