The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) has
named Toni Sudjiarto, general manager of state-owned airliner Merpati, as a
suspect in a graft case.
“We have declared a new suspect, TS, from
Merpati,” Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes Andi Nirwanto said Friday
as quoted by tempo.co.
According to earlier questioning sessions,
Toni had helped to finalize the lease agreement with US-based Thirdstone Aircraft
Leasing Group Inc. in December, 2006.
Merpati paid a security deposit of US$1
million toward the rental of two airplanes, a Boeing 737-400 and a 737-500;
however, the planes never arrived since the agreement was signed. (iwa)
