Law and Human Rights Deputy Minister Denny Indrayana says corruption, terrorism and drug convicts will have to forget about special remission on Christmas Day this year.

"The special remission will only be given to general crime convicts only," Denny said on Saturday as quoted by tempo.co.

He said the government was giving no remission as a deterrent to such criminals, especially to corruption convicts.

He said the Law and Human Rights Ministry was planning to give Christmas remission to 6,280 Christian inmates this year.

The remission would be awarded by the director general for corrections Sihabudin at the Batu correctional facility in Nusakambangan, Central Java, on Sunday. (drs)
