Govt to build more universities outside Java

A- A A+

More people are expected to have equal opportunities of access to education as the Education and Culture Ministry is planning to establish a number of technology institutes and polytechnic schools outside Java Island.

“We will build more universities, so they’re not concentrated only on Java Island,” Minister Mohammad Nuh said Monday as quoted by kompas.com, adding that the plan be put into action next year.

Nuh said the ministry would also provide scholarships for 80,000 students from poor families in 2012, an increase from the 50,000 students recorded this year. (drs)
