Streets clear in Jakarta on Monday morning

A- A A+

Traffic was reported to be light on the streets of Greater Jakarta on Monday morning, the first day after Christmas.

The toll road was deserted, from Bumi Serpong Damai in Serpong, Banten all the way to Jl. Veteran in South Jakarta and further south to Bintaro, kompas.com reported.

Traffic was also light between Simprug, South Jakarta, and Permata Hijau, West Jakarta. The usually clogged stretch of road between Jl. Pejompongan and the Slipi interchange was also free of traffic woes, while few passengers were spotted on the city's TransJakarta Busway system.

Although Monday is not an official holiday, the government ordered civil servants to take a day of collective leave on Boxing Day. Many private offices followed suit.
