The West Nusa
Tenggara administration will host the World Physics Olympiad from Dec. 28, 2011
to Jan. 3, 2012.
Education, Youth
and Sports Agency head H. Lalu Syafi’I said on Tuesday the province would use
the Olympiad to introduce local art, culture and tourism objects to
participants.
“After the
competition, we will invite hundreds of participants from Indonesia, Europe and Asian countries to see the
beauty of nature in this province and visit handicraft centers in Lombok,” Lalu said, as quoted by Antara news wire.
Some 140
participants are expected to take part in the first World Physics Olympiad held
by the Surya Institute.
Lalu said West
Nusa Tenggara administration gave its full support behind the event because it
could be used to promote tourism in the province and support the 2012 Visit
Lombok-Sumbawa program.
