Mass public transportation a priority: Fauzi Bowo

Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo plans to make the railway the next priority in transportation development after the Transjakarta busway.

“Mass public transportation is a priority,” he said on Wednesday at the official opening of Transjakarta corridor XI, as quoted by kompas.com.

He said that the Jakarta administration would cooperate with train operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia (PT KAI) to improve and revitalize railway infrastructure.

He said railway transportation would be very supportive to the public mass transportation development plan, but its potential had yet to be optimized.

“Train transportation can still be improved,” Fauzi said.

Fauzi said the government would provide additional facilities for passenger convenience and would make an integrated ticketing system.(drs)
