The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) says
that it will be critical in observing the new Corruption Eradication Commission
(KPK) leaders and will give the commission six months to resolve important
cases.
“We will give the KPK the next six months to complete the
big cases that have been under public scrutiny,” a PDI-P lawmaker, Trimedya
Panjaitan, who sits on Commission III, which deals with legal affairs and laws,
human rights and security, said on Wednesday, as quoted by kompas.com.
He explained the KPK was the only institution that had the
extra authority to eradicate corruption and therefore PDI-P had placed its
hopes on the KPK chairman and his deputies to perform their duties
indiscriminately.
“We hope they can overcome everything without being
discriminatory in their handling of cases,” he said. (awd)
