The government has set a goal for the country’s Corruption Perception Index at 5.0, or up from 3.0 in 2011.

The index, published by Transparency International, rates the levels of public sector corruption in 183 countries and territories around the world with higher scores indicating cleaner governance in the country.

Vice President Boediono said the corruption eradication would focus on prevention efforts as stipulated in the presidential instruction.

The regulation implements six corruption eradication strategies as recommended by the United Nation Convention Against Corruption including prevention in judicial institutions, prevention in other institutions, execution, regulation harmonization, asset recovery from corruption, international cooperation, and reporting.
