Presidential
spokesman Julian Aldrin Pasha said Friday that President Susilo Bambang
Yudhoyono had decided on continuing the tenure of the Judicial Mafia
Task Force.
"Given the significant contribution by the task force in helping
curb judicial mafia practices, the President thinks that the task
force's existence is still needed," Julian told The Jakarta Post.
The task force was established on Dec. 30, 2009 and its two-year tenure expires Friday.
Julian said the State Secretariat has been still working on the legal umbrella for the extension of the task force's tenure.
When asked if the task force members would remain, Julian said he did not know yet.
He also hinted that the format of the task force might change but its main duty would remain.
Politicians
previously rejected the proposal to extend the task force's work period
on the basis that it had provided minimum performance in term of
curbing judicial mafia practices.
