Nunun Nurbaeti, a suspect in a bribery case surrounding the
election of a Bank Indonesia senior deputy governor, has been admitted to the hospital
for a third time since she was arrested in Thailand earlier this month.
Nunun, who has repeatedly complained about “severe memory
loss”, was taken to the Soekanto
Police Hospital
early on Saturday over reported complications due to high blood pressure. Nunun
had been questioned by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) for around
five hours on Friday.
“Ibu Nunun has high blood pressure and that is why she
was rushed to the police hospital,” Jakarta Law and Human Rights Ministry regional
office head Taswen Tarib said Saturday as quoted by kompas.com.
Taswen said that Nunun was being guarded and supervised by
KPK investigators
while receiving treatment at the hospital.
Nunun had been hospitalized earlier this month for a week
after she fainted while being questioned by the KPK. She was admitted to a
hospital again last week due to her apparently unstable condition.
Nunun was arrested in Bangkok
after being named an Interpol fugitive who had fled Indonesia in February following corruption
allegations. (swd)
