Seventeen South Sulawesi
prosecutors were handed down various forms of punishment in 2011.
Of that number, three were dismissed, including the Sinjai Prosecutor’s Office chief, Ridwan Marzuki Umar, the South Sulawesi
Prosecutor’s Office said.
“We punished them for regulation violations. We will not
tolerate prosecutors or administrative staffs who violates regulations,” the South Sulawesi Prosecutor’s Office chief Fietra Sany said on Monday.
Ridwan was dismissed because he dropped a case without
the consent of his superior, in which he did not have the authority to do when he
headed the general crimes division at the Maros Prosecutor’s Office.
Also, Takalar Prosecutor’s Office head Rahmat Hereunto,
who has been made inactivate, may lose his job after he reportedly attempted to
extort money from a witness in a graft case he was handling.
“We are waiting for a decree [for Rahmat’s dismissal]
from the Attorney General,” said Fietra.
