Freeport: We need to reconcile to face the future

A- A A+

PT Freeport Indonesia president director and CEO Armando Mahler is asking his workers, be they on strike or not, to reconcile in order to create a harmonious working atmosphere.

“As an organization, we need to reconcile together in order to face future challenges,” he said Tuesday in Timika, Papua, as quoted by Antara.

He said that challenges would be more severe in the future, especially in efforts to maintain security in working areas.

Armando added that Freeport also needed to improve the way it communicated with external parties, including the mass media and the government, so that it could meet its production targets as expected.

He said Freeport had dealt with many tough challenges in 2011, including the three-month strike and several shooting incidents in Freeport's mining operation area, which killed and injured a number of people. (drs)
