Low-cost carrier AirAsia Indonesia welcomed another Airbus A320 into its fleet on Wednesday.

“This is a great New Year’s gift for AirAsia. The new Airbus A320 is the 17th plane to join our fleet,” AirAsia Indonesia president director Dharmadi said in a press statement.

He added that the new plane affirmed the company’s commitment to operate 100 percent Airbus A320 narrow-body aircraft.

In 2011, the airline operated 16 Airbus A320 aircraft and four Boeing 737 aircraft, serving more than 20 domestic and international routes.

The company aims to add five more aircraft in 2012 to strengthen its domestic sectors. (swd)
