Rain slows Jl. Sudirman repairs: Agency

JAKARTA: The Jakarta Public Works Agency said on Tuesday that frequent rain had slowed down repair work on a section of Jl. Jend. Sudirman in South Jakarta, which was damaged after drainage construction work.

Herning Wahyuningsih, the agency’s head for the Central Jakarta branch, said that the workers could not work as quickly as expected.

“We are now at the height of the rainy season. I apologize to the public for the slow work,” Herning said.

The construction of the two culverts, each of which are 1.1 kilometers long and between 1.2 and 1.5 meters wide, took up a lane on each side of one of the busiest thoroughfares in the capital.
