Magnitude 5.1 quake jolts Gorontalo

An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale rocked Gorontalo at 8 a.m. on Thursday, according to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).
Agency spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said the epicenter of the quake was 94 kilometers southwest of Gorontalo at a depth of 43 kilometers.
“The quake did not trigger a tsunami,” Sutopo said Thursday in a statement.
There have been no reports of damage or casualties. (swd)
