Indonesian world boxing, WBA featherweight super champion, Chris “The Dragon” John, admits that his opponent in the unification bout in March will likely be Australian IBF featherweight champion Billi Dib, but says that the news cannot yet be fully confirmed.
“We are not 100 percent sure that the opponent will be Billy Dib. When it is certain, then we will make an announcement about the next fight,” Chris John said Friday, as quoted by tribunnews.com.
The unification fight, which will combine the two separate professional boxing championships into a single title, is scheduled to be held in Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, on March 31.
Chris John said he and his team were currently preparing in Australia for the clash.
In December, Chris John retained his WBA featherweight title for the 15th time by defeating Ukrainian Stanyslav Merdov, and maintaining his flawless record of 48 straight wins. (awd)
