French kiss ends up with raids of students’ cell phones

Upset by the circulation of a video showing two students French kissing on cell phones, Banten’s Tangerang Education Agency is about to take extreme action: raiding all the schools in the regency to check students’ cell phones.

"We will raid schools in Rajeg district first, and then all the schools in Tangerang [regency],” agency head Bambang Mardi told tempo.co on Friday.

He regretted the circulation of the video, which allegedly involved two private senior high school students in Rajeg last week.

He said if it was proven that the students participated in the video, strict measures should be taken against them as it damaged the image of education in the country.

“If necessary, they should be expelled from school to act as a deterrence,” he said.

The Tangerang Police are investigating the case.
