One killed in clash between Palu residents

Residents from Nunu subdistrict, West Palu, clashed with residents from the neighboring subdistrict of Tavanjuka, South Palu, in Palu, Central Sulawesi, on Saturday morning.
A number of houses were set ablaze and one person, identified as Ridwan a.k.a. Duang, 32, was killed during the clash.
Clashes between residents from the two subdistricts have happened on many occasions in the past, with the latest one, which left seven people injured, occurring on Dec. 23.
Officers from the Central Sulawesi Police, the Palu Police and the Army's Raksatama Infantry Batallion 711 have been deployed to the scene. (mtq)
