Esemka car producer flustered by flood of orders

Sukiyat, the owner of Kiat Motor workshop, the producer of the Esemka cars, acknowledges that he has been flooded with orders for the locally made vehicle.

“A lot of people have contacted me. I have been flustered by the amount of the orders (received),” he said Monday, as quoted by tribunnews.com.

As of now, h had received up to 10,000 orders for the car. Most of the requests, he said, came from North Sumatera, which accounted for orders for 250 units. Big demand had also come from Central Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, Bali, Sulawesi and West Nusa Tenggara.

However, Sukiyat said that he could not recall much of the details of the orders, such as the identity of the customer and the amount of car units ordered.

One of the few customers that he remembered was the regent of Karanganyar, Central Java.

“Karanganyar Regent Rina Iriani Sri Ratnaningsih also ordered 10 units of the Kiat Esemka car,” he said.
