Presidential spokesman Julian Aldrin Pasha says that law enforcement in Indonesia has failed to meet public expectations.
"I have to admit there are still so many things to catch up with in this particular sector. But the government has been undergoing reform in the judicial sector," Julian told journalists on Monday.
Julian made his comments in the wake of an Indonesian Survey Institute (LSI) survey conducted in December that reported that only 44 percent of those surveyed had a positive perception of the nation’s anticorruption efforts, down from 52 percent in 2009 and from 59 percent in 2008.
Several unresolved high-profile graft cases might have influenced public opinion, Julian said. "Some of the cases are legacies from previous administration."
