Ariel has paid Rp 250m fine, court says

Former vocalist of music band Peterpan Nazriel Ilham, known as Ariel, has paid a fine of Rp 250 million as ordered by the Bandung District Court in January.

The payment was made following the Supreme Court’s decision to turn down his appeal request.

“The fine was paid in December,” court chief Amir Yanto said on Tuesday.

In January, the Bandung District Court found Ariel guilty of producing and distributing pornographic videos. He was sentenced to 3.5 years’ imprisonment and a fine of Rp 250 million, which was lighter than the prosecutors’ demand of 5 years’ imprisonment.

“The legal decision for Ariel has gained full legal strength and he therefore had to pay the fine,” Amir said.

Ariel is now an inmate at Kebon Waru Penitentiary in Bandung.
