Nunun’s husband admits link with graft case convict

Husband of graft case defendant Nunun Nurbaeti, former national police deputy chief Comr. Gen. (ret) Adang Daradjatun has finally admitted a connection with one of the convicts in the traveler's checks bribery case, Insp. Gen. (ret) Udju Djuhaeri.

“Udju worked under me when I was West Java police chief,” Adang said on Tuesday as quoted by tempo.co.

When asked to clarify a report revealing that Adang, in his capacity as national police deputy chief in mid 2004, had ever called Udju (who had become a member of the House’ of Representatives' military and police faction) to throw support behind Miranda Swaray Goeltom during the Bank Indonesia senior deputy governor selection process, Adang said that he hadn’t had the will to do that.

“I never made that call and also, who am I to be able to influence the whole faction?” He said.

More than 20 current and former public officials were sentenced to prison after they were proven guilty of receiving bribe money allegedly from Nunun Nurbaeti in order to win Miranda the 2004 Bank Indonesia senior deputy governor position.(dic)
