A demonstration at the Cibitung industry district, Greater Jakarta, has caused heavy congestion on the nearby toll road, the police have reported.
“The Cibitung toll exit is congested because of a demonstration at the MM2100. Steer clear of the area and use alternative roads to avoid being stuck in the congestion,” the Jakarta Police Traffic Management Center said on Twitter on Wednesday morning.
The manager of Suzuki Indomobil Motor Endro Martono, the office of which is located not far from the demonstration confirmed by the police report, said that the protesters seemed to consist mostly of workers.
“Yes, it is congested because of a demonstration. They were union workers from all over Bekasi,” he said.
According to reports, up to 500 workers participated in the protest. Endro, however, said that his workers were not involved. (awd)
