Ratu Atut installed as Banten governor for second time

Ratu Atut Choisiyah maintained her position as Banten governor for the second time as she and her new deputy, Rano Karno, are officially installed by Home Minister Gamawan Fauzi today.

Atut, who often faced allegations of grooming her own political empire since many of her relatives had also managed to secure positions in various institutions, was backed by the country's second largest political party, the Golkar Party, while her deputy, former actor Rano Karno, was backed by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P).

The duo will hold the top positions until 2017.
