3,675 police deployed to secure rally

Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Baharuddin Djafar said Thursday the police had deployed 3,675 personnel to secure various demonstrations that would take place today in various locations, such as the Presidential Palace, the Supreme Court, the House of Representatives and the Home Ministry.

“The number of deployed personnel is aimed to manage approximately 4,500 demonstrators today,” Jafar said as quoted by kompas.com.

He said today’s rally topic was land disputes and that demonstrators would request that the House form a special committee tasked with settling disputes that often claimed numerous victims across the country. (dic)
