Depok in dire need of street lighting

A local official has announced that there are 15,000 spots in the suburban city that are left in the dark without street lighting.

“We have only managed to install street lighting at 5,000 places up to last year,” head of the street lighting unit of Depok public services, Bogy Sanjaya, said Saturday as quoted by tempo.co.

He said in order to anticipate unnecessary problems the local administration had decided to draw up a list of priority areas for installing new lighting equipment.

“We will prioritize areas that have high crime and traffic accident rates first, before we start looking at other places. We are asking the locals to give us input before we start installing street lighting in the region,” he said. (dic)
