The Jakarta Police say that they will question the police officer who allegedly fired at a Transjakarta on the BRT lane on Thursday.
“The first questioning will be on Tuesday. On Monday, we will send a letter to the officer’s unit to summon him,” Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Rikwanto said Sunday, as quoted by tribunnews.com.
He said that the police condemned such irresponsible action and that there were rules and ethics for using firearms.
“You cannot casually fire shots,” he said.
On Thursday, the Transjakarta Bus Rapid Transit management filed a report with the Jakarta Police’s internal affairs division over a shooting incident involving a police officer and a Transjakarta guard.
The busway management reported that the incident occurred at around 8:15 a.m. on Jl. Pramuka Raya in Central Jakarta after a Transjakarta guard prevented a vehicle with license number B 1071 TFV, belonging to security service provider PT Securicor Indonesia, from entering the exclusive bus way lane.
The police have said that two officers, identified only as I and D, were involved in the incident. (awd)
