Kadin to hold Jakarta Food Security Summit

The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (Kadin) will hold the Jakarta Food Security Summit from Feb.7-10 in Jakarta. The event is slated to be opened by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and will be closed by Vice President Boediono.
“We are aware that food security has become a critical problem,” Kadin chairman Suryo Bambang Sulisto said on Tuesday as quoted by kompas.com, adding that by holding the summit in Indonesia, it showed that Indonesia considered the issue to be important.
Suryo added that the prospects for the food industry were excellent, so the government was expected to give more attention to the development of this industry. It could contribute to the economy and to employment.(drs)
