Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa says all 170 Indonesian crew members of the ill-fated Costa Concordia cruise ship are in the good hands as the Indonesian Embassy in Italy has been attending to their needs.
“Our brothers on the cruise ship are safe. They have now been given protection,” Marty said on Tuesday as quoted by tempo.co.
He said that the embassy had placed the Indonesian crew members in hotels and had ensured that they receive appropriate food and necessary medication, particularly to two crew members who were injured in the accident.
“Everything is under control,” he said.
The Costa Concordia cruise ship, carrying more than 4,000 people on board, crashed into a rock and sunk in Mediterranean waters off Italy on Saturday. The accident killed at least three people and injured 70 others. (awd)
