SBY praises police on terrorism prevention

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has praised the National Police for its achievement in preventing terrorism.

“There are some police achievements that we should be proud of, as in the prevention of terrorism,” President Yudhoyono said on Tuesday as quoted by kompas.com.

He went on to say that most people only noticed the acts of terror that had taken place.

“People don’t realize that there have been dozens of other threats that have been successfully prevented,” he said.

Yudhoyono was attending the police leaders’ meeting at the National Police headquarters.

He said that apart from terrorism prevention, the police force also deserved praise for drug eradication as well as security measures at important events such as the Islamic holiday of Idul Fitri, Christmas, New Year and the ASEAN Summit. (iwa)
