Soeharto’s grandson questioned over fraud allegation

A grandson of the late President Soeharto, Ari Haryo Wibowo Harjojudanto, widely known as Ari Sigit, was questioned by Jakarta Police investigators in regard to a Rp 2.5 billion (US$272,500),fraud case.
“I was questioned as a witness,” Ari said on Tuesday as quoted by Antara news wire.
He added that the investigators had questioned him as the commissioner of PT Dinamika Daya Andalan, a company implicated in the case. He said he was in the dark regarding the allegation, saying that the company’s director, identified as S, was responsible for all projects carried out by the company.
The case was reported to the police by PT Krakatau Wajatama directors, Sutrisno and Mariati, after Ari’s company failed to carry out a project it had been assigned. PT Krakatau had paid Rp 2.5 billion in advance for the project. (swd)
