The panel of judges at So’e District Court, East Nusa Tenggara, on Tuesday acquitted a student identified only as FN, 16, a second grader of So’e vocational school, of charges of stealing flowers from his foster mother.
“FN is freed of all charges,” presiding judge Yos Beru said as quoted by tempo.co.
FN’s foster mother Sonya reported him to the police for stealing eight addendum flowers from a pot in a garden at her house and selling them to a neighbor for Rp 10,000 each.
FN was then charged for theft under the Criminal Code and could have faced 2.5 years in prison.
So’e Prosecutor’s Office head Johanes Radja said he would appeal.(dic)
