Ratu Atut blames govt over damaged roads

A- A A+

Newly installed Banten Governor Ratu Atut Chosiyah has refused to be held responsible for wrecked roads all over the province and has instead pointed her finger at the Public Works Ministry.

“The so called wrecked roads were built by a construction firm appointed by the Public Works Ministry. However, this firm is currently defunct, which leaves us with the question of who should fix the roads,” she said at the opening ceremony of a factory in Cilegon on Wednesday, as quoted by kompas.com.

Atut then asked Industry Minister MS Hidayat and Trade Minister Gita Wirjawan, who were both present at the event, to pass on her message regarding the appalling road conditions to Public Works Minister Djoko Kirmanto.

Roads in Banten are widely known to be badly damaged, especially those leading to tourism resorts like Pantai Anyer and Ujung Kulon, which are filled with potholes.(awd/dic)
