Health Minister Endang Rahayu Sedyaningsih said on Wednesday that Indonesia came fifth in the world among countries suffering nutrition problems.
“Indonesia ranks fifth because its population is also included in the top four of the world’s most populous countries,” Endang said as quoted by tempo.co.
She said the number of undernourished toddlers in Indonesia reached 900,000, or 4.5 percent, of the 23 million toddlers throughout the archipelago.
Therefore she said the ministry asked all stakeholders to focus on nutrition and improvements in food quality in their policymaking.
She said her ministry had also coordinated with related ministries to synergize efforts to overcome the problem. (iwa/mtq)
