The husband and two relatives of former Citibank manager Malinda Dee, who are all defendants in graft trials, will each learn of their fate in Thursday’s hearing at the South Jakarta District Court.
“The sentence reading is today [Thursday], we are ready,” Rocky Nainggolan, a lawyer of the three defendants, said on Thursday as quoted by kompas.com.
The three are standing trial separately for accepting money from Malinda, who is alleged to have siphoned off more than Rp 44 billion (US$4.84 million) from the bank’s premium clients between 2007 and 2010.
Prosecutors have demanded a four-year prison sentence and a Rp 200 million fine for Visca Lovitasari, Malinda’s younger sister. Visca’s husband, Ismail bin Janim, received a heavier sentence demand of five years’ imprisonment and a Rp 350 million fine. Both defendants are alleged to have regularly accepted money from Malinda, accumulating to more than Rp 8 billion.
Malinda’s husband, meanwhile, faces a potential six-year prison sentence, demanded by prosecutors for not only accepting siphoned off money from Malinda but also forging documents. (awd)
