Restaurant-cum-brothel irks S. Tangerang councillors

South Tangerang Legislative Council members of Commission B, which oversees public order, are in hot water after discovering a restaurant that also serves as a place of prostitution on Jl. Juanda in Ciputat district.
“This is intolerable. This site must be closed because the owner is clearly violating the permit obtained from the administration,” Siti Chodijah, one of the councillors, said during an inspection on Thursday.
The commission members, who were accompanied by public order officers, inspected the restaurant after receiving complaints from locals, and found 18 unmarried couples having intercourse in a number of rooms at the restaurant.
One of the couples was identified as a civil servant working at the Defense Ministry.
According to Chodijah, the owner obtained permits only for a restaurant, hair beauty salon and tourist spot, not for a hotel.
However, the owner offers dozens of bedrooms for rent for Rp 150,000 (US$16.50) to Rp 250,000 per hour. (mtq)
