Lola Amaria prepping LGBT film anthology

JP/P.J. LeoJAKARTA: Actress and director Lola Amaria says she is preparing an omnibus of movies with lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) themes.

She said she will direct one of the films, titled Lumba-lumba (Dolphin).

The project will involve nine other directors, including actresses Dinda Kanya Dewi and Kirana Larasati.

While Lola’s Lumba-lumba tells the story of a kindergarten teacher’s love for someone of the same sex, Dinda’s Malam Ini Aku Cantik (Tonight I Am Beautiful) tells of a cross-dresser eking out a living for his wife and children. Kirana’s Topeng Srikandi tells of a woman who decides to become a man.

“[The project] will be submitted to local and international [film] festivals,” Lola said Wednesday as quoted by tempo.co.
