UI rector ready for KPK enquiry

A- A A+

University of Indonesia’s (UI) rector Gumilar Rusliwa Somantri said he was ready for the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) enquiry regarding the recent Supreme Audit Agency's (BPK) allegations that Rp 45 billion of the state's money was lost due to bad management within UI.

“As a good citizen, off course I will be ready for the enquiry. However, I think it’s too early to discuss the KPK enquiry right as we still have 60 days within which to reply to the BPK's findings,” Gumilar said Saturday as quoted by tempo.co.

He said he was upbeat about the BPK's findings because they paved the way for him to take a closer look at the university's day-to-day management once again.

The agency's latest findings revealed that the UI management had likely mismanaged two major projects: the land-swap project involving the UI student dormitory in Jl. Pegangsaan Timur, Central Jakarta, and the university’s hospital construction project. Together, the projects amounted to approximately Rp 45 billion.(dic)
