Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Rikwanto says the police's latest narcotics test has found that the driver in yesterday's fatal accident, Apriyani Susanti, and her three passengers had taken crystal meth, locally known as sabu, when the tragic accident took place.
“Now we are going to develop the case further, not only the accident but also the crystal meth use. A team from the narcotics desk has been deployed to investigate the case,” Rikwanto said on Monday.
He said the three friends, Arisendi, Denny and Adistra had also been named as suspects once the police discovered that they were on drugs as well when the accident took place.
“We are going to proceed with the friends in a different case. As for Afrianti, we will charge her in relation to two cases simultaneously, the fatal accident and drug use,” he said.
Regarding the casualties, Rikwanto said that the police had contacted a general insurance company to provide compensation packages for all victims of the accident.
A black car driven by Apriyani Susanti, a staffmember at a production house in Jakarta, went out of control and plowed into 12 pedestrians in the front of the Trade Ministry building in Gambir, Central Jakarta yesterday, claiming the lives of 9 people and injuring three others.
