Mild quake hits E. Java

The National Mitigation Agency (BNPB) reports that a 5.1-magnitude earthquake jolted Jember, East Java on Monday at 11.06 a.m.,However, the agency said that the quake did not cause any damage or injuries in the area.
“The quake was not felt by the local residents because the epicenter of the quake was far away and the intensity was low. The quake does not carry a tsunami threat,” BNPB spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said on Monday, as quoted by tribunnews.com.
The epicenter of the quake was around 177 km southwest of Jember
