The Jakarta Police say they have yet to name Apriyani Susanti, 28, apparently involved in a car crash that killed nine people, as a drug suspect, despite the fact that her drug test was thought to be positive.

“The investigation for the drug case still needs to be developed and is therefore not yet final,” Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Rikwanto said Monday as quoted by tribunnews.com.

He said Apriyani was being held under police custody for a traffic offense, in which she lost control of her car, which plowed into a group of people.

He further explained that Apriyani’s three friends who had been in the car at the time of the incident, and had all also tested positive for having consumed drugs, had not been named suspects.

“They [Apriyani’s friends] have not been detained. It is still a long way to go for the investigation,” he said.

A black minivan went out of control on Sunday and plowed into a group of pedestrians in Gambir, Central Jakarta, killing 9 people and critically injuring three others. (awd/mtq)
