Four arrested in counterfeit case

A team of police officers from the Cilincing precinct seized counterfeit money amounting to Rp 31 million (U$ 3,474) from four suspects in Cilincing, North Jakarta, an official said.

Chief of Cilincing police precinct Comr. Tuhana said that the first arrest, of a suspect named Amiludin, was conducted in Kalibaru, Cilincing.

“We seized Rp 1.45 million,” he said on Tuesday as quoted by Kompas.com.

Tuhana explained that as a follow-up from the first arrest, the police then found leads to the other suspects, Mardio, Asep Septiadi and Saban, who were located in Sukabumi and Bogor, West Java.

He said that the police managed to confiscate another Rp 10 million from Mardio and Rp 20 million from Asep.

“Saban acts as an intermediary between these suspects,” Tuhana alleged.

He added that the police were still hunting the operators of the money-printing factory as the police were unable to turn up the print tools on the suspects’ premises.(drs/dic)
