The police say that they are targeting a male friend of the C01 public minivan rape victim for questioning.
“The victim had arranged to meet with a certain man on the night [of the incident]. Now the man cannot be contacted,” South Jakarta Police chief Sr. Comr. Imam Sugianto said Tuesday as quoted by tribunnews.com.
Imam said that investigators suspect that the man was part of the victim’s circle of friends.
Imam described the incident, which took place on Saturday, started when the victim, a nursing student, was approached by a group of men while she was waiting for a minivan under the Velbak overpass in Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta.
“The victim then ran towards the railway and was chased. She was then punched by one of the perpetrators, who knocked her unconscious,” he said.
When she regained consciousness the next morning, she found herself by the railway and felt pain between her legs, he said.
“She is still recovering as her condition has been unstable,” Imam said. (awd/mtq)
