The Presidential Working Unit for Development Monitoring and Control (UKP4) has launched the so-called “key programs” set for implementation in 2012 that will focus on anti-corruption and transparency.

“[We have set] programs focusing on corruption eradication as the number one priority among 11 priorities,” Unit chairman Kuntoro Mangkusubroto said during the launching ceremony at the Vice President’s Office in Jakarta on Tuesday.

The second-top priority was programs related to development acceleration, particularly in remote areas, Kuntoro said. “Priority No. 3 is about transparency in bureaucracy,” he said.

“President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is also set to co-chair international open government initiatives and partnerships,” he added.

The ceremony was also attended by Vice President Boediono as well as ministries’ secretary generals.

“To measure the effectiveness of these programs, we will use the public as the indicator. We cannot claim that we are successful while the people do not feel the same way. We are successful if people feel satisfied,” Boediono said in his official remark. (mtq)
