Aldila Sutjiadi of Indonesia and Rutuja Bhosale of India cruised into the quarterfinal round of Australian Open junior tennis tournament in girls’ doubles in Melbourne on Tuesday.

Aldila and Bhosale defeated Australians Naikhta Bains and Danielle Wagland 5-7, 6-2, 10-5 (tiebreak) to earn their place.

On Wednesday, Aldila and Bhosale will face Irina Maria Bara of Romania and Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia, who earned their quarterfinal spot in a walkover victory against Indy de Vroome of the Netherlands and Anett Kontaveit of Estonia.

Former coach of Indonesian tennis team Deddy Prasetyo said that Aldila had certainly surprised for the country with her outstanding achievement.

“Now we again have a representative in one of the Grand Slam events. It is a good thing for her after spending three years overseas participating in various international tourneys,” Deddy told The Jakarta Post on Tuesday.

Deddy, who runs a tennis course, said that Aldila had spent several years taking lessons under his instruction. “She is a smart player.”

He said that Aldila’s achievement could motivate other young Indonesian tennis players to work hard and achieve more in international events.

Deddy said that Aldila had a chance to advance in Australian Open. “Before the Grand Slam, she was No. 80 in the world.

“I really hope she can carry on to semifinals, because I believe she can do it.”

More victories mean more points for Aldilla, who wanted to go on more Grand Slams this year, said Deddy.
