Deadly Russian roulette kills cop

A Water Police Security Maintenance Agency (Polair Baharkam) officer, identified as Second Brig. H, shot Second Brig. F dead while playing with a revolver belonging to First Brig. G on Wednesday evening.

The incident occurred at the three officers’ rented house in Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, when H took G’s firearm while G was in the bathroom. H, who had never used a firearm and was not authorized to use one, emptied the bullets and fired at the floor.

Thinking the chamber was empty, “H then playfully pointed the gun at F and pulled the trigger. Apparently there was still a bullet in the chamber. F was shot dead,” Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Rikwanto said on Thursday.

Rikwanto said that H and G would likely be summoned to face a disciplinary hearing. (mim)
