Strong winds sweep through Banyumas

PURWOKERTO: Strong winds swept through Central Java’s southern coast from morning until noon on Wednesday, leveling hundreds of homes and blowing away the roofs of dozens of other houses in Banyumas regency.

No casualties were reported, but damage is estimated at tens of millions of rupiah.

The hardest hit were several villages in Cilongok district, where winds also uprooted dozens of coconut trees.
